Mixed Reactions to Agnipath Scheme Protests

Protests against the Agnipath scheme, announced by the Central government on Tuesday, have continued throughout the week, eliciting varied reactions from political leaders.

Meanwhile, Congress MPs and top leaders, including general secretary Vadra, stood in solidarity with the protesting youths.

Here are some key reactions:

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accuses the government of not working for the poor and youth, but for big industrialists.

She told the protesting youths, "Recognize 'fake nationalists', the entire country is with you in your struggle," and appealed to them to protest peacefully, assuring her party's full support for the cause.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said that the protesting youth are unaware of the benefits of the Agnipath scheme to them and the Indian armed forces, urging them to withdraw from their agitation.

Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of repeatedly giving false hope of jobs and forcing the youth to walk on the 'Agnipath' of unemployment.

Congress leader Sachin Pilot urged the government to immediately withdraw the Agnipath scheme for wider consultations to avoid a repeat of the farm laws episode.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav demanded the withdrawal of the scheme, expressing doubts about its true purpose and appealing to the youth to protest peacefully.

It is evident that the reactions to the Agnipath scheme have been strong and varied, with political leaders expressing concern and calling for its withdrawal. (Compiled from PTI reports)
